How to Use the PE Butt Fusion Welding Machine?

Summary

A PE butt fusion welding machine is used to butt-join pipes directly; it is not for dragging pipes. For example, I welded 50 meters at Location 1 and 50 meters at Location 2. I want to connect the pipes from the two locations together. How can I do it?

A PE butt fusion welding machine is used to butt-join pipes directly; it is not for dragging pipes. For example, I welded 50 meters at Location 1 and 50 meters at Location 2. I want to connect the pipes from the two locations together. How can I do it?

Solution 1: Butt Fusion Welding (sufficient working space is required)

Required equipment list

Butt fusion welding machine (main unit) (matching the pipe diameter)

Auxiliary tools

Clean cotton cloth + anhydrous alcohol: wipe oil and dust off the pipe end faces

Crowbar / pipe roller stand: support the pipes and keep the two pipe sections coaxial, reducing the force needed for alignment (very critical! never pull pipes hard to force alignment)

Spirit level: level the pipes

Safety helmet, gloves, goggles, protective equipment

Generator: supplies power when there is no mains power on site (the butt fusion machine and pipe planer consume electricity)

Note: Never use a PE butt fusion welding machine to directly drag PE pipes without using pipe roller stands. Dragging the pipe directly is an improper operation that severely damages the machine's entire hydraulic system and shortens its service life. Always use the machine within reasonable limits. Pipe roller stands (one for every 2-3 meters)

Solution 2: Electrofusion Welding (for confined spaces or when the pipe is difficult to move)

Required equipment list

Electrofusion welding machine (matching the fitting voltage)

Electrofusion straight coupling (sized to match the PE pipe)

Auxiliary tools

PE pipe scraper (a must! Scrape off the oxidized surface layer of the pipe; otherwise the weld may be weak)

Tape measure, marker pen: mark the insertion depth

Anhydrous alcohol + lint-free cloth: clean the inner walls of the pipe and the fitting

Rubber mallet: helps insert the pipe; do not hit it hard

Pipe support bracket: keeps the pipe aligned and prevents shifting during welding

Generator (no mains power)

Note: Electrofusion jointing places strict requirements on insertion depth, surface scraping, and pipe roundness; oval deformation of the pipe will cause welding failure. Be sure to block the vents; otherwise it may cause a fire.
